I am a hispanic and had a quincenera when I was a kid. Back in the day’s it was all about getting a gift that actually had to do with the celebration itself. Symbolic meaning in other words. Now it has all changed so much girls look foward to getting gifts like any other birthday, my little neighbor just had her quincenera a week ago. I got her a gift card to Best Buy for music and she was thrilled. Gift cards make great gifts especially to a teenager. Good Luck!!

i’ve actually been to quite a few, and they can be very elaborate and beautiful, almost like a mini wedding…anyways, i ususally give a nice cruicifix or blessed mary on a chain, because its a religious rite of passage as well as celebration of transition into youngwomanhood (is that a word? – u know what i mean!)
